Barbara L. Lehrer, M.A.S.L.P., S.D.A.
President
Barbara L. Lehrer, President of the Martin-Lehrer Foundation, was
incredibly inspired as a child by a mother who did great things for a
great many people, and wanted to be just like her. She has fulfilled that
ambition by working her whole life towards creating opportunities for
those facing adversity and challenges in their lives. As a practicing
speech therapist for the last 35 years, she has travelled all over New
York serving children and adults with speech and language problems.
Barbara began the Martin-Lehrer Foundation and the Sylvia Martin
Memorial Scholarship in recognition of her mother’s commitment and
she supports the cause of independent living through gifts to human
service organizations and schools. Without Barbara Lehrer, there would
be no Martin-Lehrer Foundation and with her, there is an organization in
place that helps countless people each year get the help and support
they need to go on to do great things.
Elissa Theilen
Treasurer
Elissa Theilen believes in giving back. It motivates her in work and in
life. She has spent her whole career in the healthcare field, doing her
part to help those in need. She is a partner at the Beacon Group and
worked for Renaissance Healthcare Options for many years, where she
was a partner and managing member, helping those with developmental
disabilities. As board member and Treasurer at the
Martin-Lehrer Foundation, she works with Barbara to foster change in the lives of
many and to respond to those who ask for help with compassion and
life-changing assistance.
